After a successful consultation period, Graham Simpson MSP has lodged the final proposal for a bill designed to make it easier to remove MSPs from office.
Graham will now seek cross-party support for his Removing MSPs Bill which would introduce new measures on removing an MSP from office, including additional grounds and new processes for removal.
If successful, the Scottish Parliament would be brought into line with local authorities, where councillors can be removed if they don’t take part in proceedings for six months without a valid reason.
The Bill would also ensure any MSP who is given a prison sentence is automatically removed from office.
